Paranormalcy #1
by Kiersten White
Summary:
Evie's always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she's falling for a shape-shifter, and she's the only person who can see through paranormals' glamours.
But Evie's about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
So much for normal.
Rating: 4 /5
Review:
Evie is a normal girl that sees through glamor... and that's why she lives and works at IPAC, she thinks any way. She discovers that her desire to be normal might be further away than anticipated. She is in fact a paranormal herself.
When thinking about how to describe the book the words fluffy, cute, fun, fast, entertaining come to mind
It's not a deep meaningful book but rather a really fun read that is full of action.
The MC is a teenage girl and the entire story is written from her POV. Which is rather hilarious. She is not super kick-ass despite her para-normalcy, she actually does have rather normal teenage issues. Which is rather refreshing actually. Evie is really witty and a rather likable character. She is highly entertaining. Like her love for a high school series and the colour pink or the fact that she uses bleep! as a swear word.
Since the book is written from Evie's POV, all other characters a tinged with her opinion of them. She describes them when she meets them and one is always aware how she feels about them or she thinks they feel about her.
The world building is also totally solid, which makes this even better.
White has a great sense of humor and doesn't take her characters too serious, it comes through in the entire book. White has managed to write in a way lots of 16years old girls think and make it amusing but still with insight.
As I said fun and cute read!
