Review:

I am kinda speechless actually. Again. I mean I devoured this one. I read it in one sitting. And let me tell you... It is brilliant! It very very good.
I... welll... as I said. Me.... speechless.

Because how should I put to words what Reid did to my heart when I read this? I am not a writer after all...

So forgive the rather un-eloquent attempt to put to words what Reid has done here.
I think it is actually impossible to review this one as its own entity. Since the two previous sequels have kinda made me form an opinion on Elements of Chemistry. While I enjoyed Attraction, I was not sure this would be one of my favorites, I was convinced that Martin lacked depth...Then in Heat I changed my mind- completely.. I was totally and utterly won over. Team Martin ALL THE WAY. And then Reid went and blew every apart again in Capture.
Which is beyond amazing. I found my opinion of characters do a 180, again. My heart was shattered in Heat? Well in Capture Reid shredded those broken pieces to dust. I was so beyond devastated. And then she went about to slowly put it all together.

I really love the plot of this one. Well, clearly. But while I kinda knew what I could expect... Reid managed to surprise me. I was totally shocked by some of the things that happened. It's your romance with a great geeky twist.

If the character building was fabulous in Heat... This one.. well, it's genius. Somehow ALL my issues I had with certain peps in Heat, all my frustration was solved. Which would have made me happy either way. But again Reid went beyond my expectations and did it not just elegantly but so realistic. I not only believe the changes - I totally could see this work out in real life. Sigh. I well, again, I can't describe how touched and amazed I was by that.
Martin did the biggest transformation for me. I wasn't that sure how I felt in Attraction, then was totally taken by the broken and angry side of him but in Capture? Well, he is in my top ten book hotties after that. Not only did he change, but again, the changes are totally believable. Though to be honest, I was a bit flabbergast at times, felt like shanking him over the head- wondering where the pushy jock had gone. I mean it would have helped at times...
But talking about shanking: Kaitlyn? OMG. I wanted to shake her at times. But I so could relate to her. And I totally love how she got her spunk on. I adore that she in all of this, went and was honest to herself and not only grew so much, but found what was important to herself. Found somehow her own path.

That's exactly where Reid's mastery lies in my opinion. She is a wonderful writer. I love her prose, it's spunky, fun, geeky and clever. Yet, she manages to be sizzling, enticing and heartwarming at the same time. Capture not only encompasses all of this. But I swear she is getting better and better.
Looking back, after reading the entire serial, I am in total awe of Reid's mastery of her craft. Elements of Chemistry is masterfully constructed. It has a well thought out storyline, superb character building and then there are all the little details that just add up to a brilliant piece of work. The titles of the chapters? Clever. Then the three parts.. really brilliantly divided. So many things fall in place after one reads this. It's astounding.
Which brings me to the way this has been published. The serial format. While I dread the wait between the instalments- I am so glad I read this as a serial. The wait in-between somehow made this better. The way it was divided was so well done, that despite cliffies, which were at times painful to say the least, each part was more rewarding. Again this speaks in my opinion for Reid's immense talent.
The good news for all of you who don't like serials- all three parts have been publish and you can read them in one go!

So if you like new adult and romance novels- and you feel like a clever twist to your cute & fluffy : This should be on top of your TBR. Better go read it right now. I promise you won't regret it!

Review:

My Initial Reaction:

FLIP!

Oooooh no!!NO NO NO!

So was I saying this was more cute and fluffy that the usual Reid? Well scratch that! Not only did this get way deeper - shit just got serious

And Reid casually went and ripped out my heart (And I am throwing another temper tantrum cause I got weeks until I get the next book .. Add ugly crying as well )

I am going to have a cup of coffee try and calm down, gather my thoughts and be back with some more coherent phrases and hopefully proper sentences.

"Well, you can.."I paused, blinked at him and his shocking words. "Wait, what?"

Review:

This kinda threw me out, quite badly actually. Well, wait that's not right. Let me rephrase this, because this is actually a good thing. So after reading Attraction, which I enjoyed immensely, I had chalked this of as a cute & fluffy.

And then Reid totally changed the ball game. I seriously didn't expect this. AT ALL.

Now I am actually not talking about the storyline. While I still enjoyed the plot, thoroughly, it's your cute & fluffy. There are quite fun twists and turns, but none of them really surprised me to be honest. It's a fun ride for sure.

And frankly Reid's writing is so exquisite I would have been totally happy if this were a super fluffy romance, which I thought this was...I kinda expected this was what Elements of Chemistry would be.

An extremely well written, funny and yet immensely clever, cute & uber-fluffy romance.

Well that's what Attraction was after all. And Heat has all those elements. BUT Reid changed the ball game. She totally threw me in the deep end. Because while Heat is ,just like all her books, well written, the plot is cute & fluffy, Reid utterly outdone herself in the character building.

I was not a huge fan of Martin after the last instalment. The attraction between Kaitlyn and Martin was purely physical in my opinion. Heat changed all of that. Suddenly their bond feels deeper, their relationship makes sense and I get Kaitlyn's attraction to Martin. And well, Martin is suddenly totally desirable. He isn't the jock anymore, nope, not at all. I see his insecurities, am totally invested in their relationship and I feel like I got to know the support cast as well. I feel like I get what makes the group tick....

And as we all know, I am a sucker for character driven novels. So this was a definite hell yes for me. But while I really love the MCs, I got some issues with the villains. They a bit too over the top for me. I mean the parentals are way out there, which kinda took away some of the greatness of this for me.

On the other hand, I was just amazed how Reid took a super cute&fluffy and made me think about rather deep and important issues.

Are we just the sum of our parents deeds? Do we really have a choice of what path to choose? How much do we owe other?

Which is really the most amazing thing about this. I found myself devastated by the cliffy. And yes there is another cliffy!! But more so I was furious with both of them, annoyed with quite a bit of the characters and heartbroken by the seemingly inevitability of the situation.

And somewhere in all this Reid struck a cord in me. Something that is dear and important to my heart. I suddenly saw my own life journey, thought about my choices in life.... and well felt like clubbing a few characters over their heads....

Okay so if you haven't read the novel yet: All I can say. This is one of my favorite writing of Reid, it's thought provoking, enticing, captivating, amusing and surprisingly deep. And it end's with a cliffy....

An absolute MUST READ!

Now I will do some ranting, cause well, I just got to- but it has minor spoilers... SO WARNING don't read the next paragraph if you wanna avoid them

***SPOILERS****

I am totally infuriated with Martin and Kaitlyn. Look here is a deal, Kaitlyn feels entitled that Martin must give up all he has worked for and his goal, while she doesn't back down a bit. Since her mother's demands are for the so-called greater good. But see I feel it's a bit hypocritical. Well, I don't think Martin is on a great path. But he must give it all up if he loves her? Uhm. I find that unfair. And for that I wanted to shank Kaitlyn over her head. Martin's refusal to find a compromise was annoying as well. But my real ire... it's on the parentals. Seriously. The mother is cold hearted carrier driven and expects sacrifices. I was so taken aback by that. My mother would have happily given up anything for us. The entire world, whatever it takes. We would have found a compromise. Nope that's not what was set out there. And not one of the friends was even suggesting one. I felt like shaking the friends too!

Does doing something for the greater good justify that one expects a total sacrifice of a loved one?

And again, do our parents lay out our future? Are we the sum of our ancestors? Are we in the end able to make free choices?

All questions Reid left me with, and a shattered heart. Because Kaitlyn doesn't even see that she was totally disrespected and disregarded. Martin, though knowing he is broken, can't get out of the web he has been entangled in by his horrible parents

It's so devastating. And while the situation is a tad fantastical, we all at some point or another face the reality that we are to a part who our parents made us, we are where our ancestors brought us. But to another part we have to find our own path.

And here I am again.Desperately waiting for the next instalment. But this time around my heart has been ripped out, I feel utterly devastated yet full of hope and utterly in awe of Reid's writing.

Review:

My first reaction when I got to the end of this:

I mean this left me hanging! ALL I wanted is MORE.
Yep, seriously. I was left a tethering mess. I mean, REALLY.
Let me warn you first up. This ends on a cliffy. And it end way to early.
Way way way to early.
The pleasures of reading serials....
I just got the ARC for the next one. So right now I feel way better about the wait.
As always if you not a fan of cliffhangers or serials, it might be best to wait until the entire novel will be released.
I personally would not ever choose this option- it's Reid after all.


The writing is as always great. I love Reid's humor and her geeky take on life. And Attracion has pleeeeeeenty of that to offer. But unlike her Knitting in the City Series, this is way more fluffy. Cute and fluffy through and through so far at least.
While I adore the Knitting in the City Series for it's wit but also for it's surprising depth, I didn't mind the fluff. I was a bit surprised at first. But once I got over the fact that this is a different series and that I can't expect the same thing.... I was hooked. I read this in a single sitting. And well, nearly threw my kindle when I realised that I am at the end. And that I won't get more of Kaitlin for a long while.

It was so beyond appropriate it was...It was inapproriate.

I adore Kaitlin.In fact I think Reid's got a great knack for writing unusual and clever female characters. Kaitlin is your geeky scientist, who chooses not to curse and reads lots. I totally can connect- being both a scientist and a reader... I do however have a potty mouth at times. Reid managed to create a quirky clever girl, with hangups and all - we all can relate to her, but she is utterly unique. I totally would be friends with her. I totally root for her. All camp Kaitlin over here! *raised her hand*
While I am usually totally enamoured with her male ones, I am not that sure about Martin. He is growing on me. And well we only a quarter in after all. Martin is too much of hotness and too much of a jock for me. No one is that perfect and that ...well.. hot. BUUUUUT I know I can expect more. There are hints and well as I said Martin is growing on me.
I can't wait to see where Reid is taking these two. So far their battle of wills and attractions was fun to watch.

She was pretty nasty to Martin, called him some unpleasant names I won't repeat, but I will say they are synonyms for whoreson

The story line is fun. And true to form cute and fluffy. I enjoyed the different scenes, even if they a tad more cliche that Reid's previous. I frankly don't care, that so far it was a bit predictable. I mean it's entertaining, well written and Reid fabulosity.

I have two sisters, and I tell them this all the time. Be the marriage girl. Don't be the hook-up girl. Don't be her. She's stupid and shallow. Yes, she get lots of male attention, dressing in her sexy lumberjack or sexy nun costumes...for a time. But then she's used up, hardened, disillusioned and desperate, because no one stays with the hook-up girl

Sooo if you like Reid's writing. A MUST read. IF you a fan of the GENRE... what you waiting for?
Never mind the cliffy. Don't wait. Get entertained... and we after all closer to the release of the next one...well at least I am.. *goes to read Heat*
