BOOK BLURB:

My savior isn’t prince charming.

I’m not that lucky.

He’s my worst nightmare.

He’s my one night stand from two years ago.

And he doesn’t remember me.

What happens on vacation doesn't always stay on vacation. Especially in a place like Aspen. I moved to the mountains for my dream vet job. I never expected to run into the man of my dreams. Again.

I never thought I'd see her again.

My Cinderella didn't leave me a shoe to find her.

Not that I'd need random footwear to recognize her.

Her kiss is something I'll never forget.

Work hard. Play hard. I'm paid to be a nice guy on the slopes, but what I do in my off time isn't always about making good choices. That's the fun of living in a ski town. I stay while the women come and go.
Crazy Over You is a standalone romantic comedy and the second book in the Love with Altitude series.

REVIEW

So after reading two books in this series I can say with no doubt that I will be reading the entire series.
I love the setting.
There are mountains, there is lots of snow, there is a winter romance and hot guys.. do I need to say more?

Add to all the above: Prescott's wonderful writing, her wit and the slow(ish) real romance- and you got me all smitten. Utterly and totally smitten.

The romance is cute and swoony and has a nice sizzle to it. The storyline is interesting. There are no unnecessary dramas, just enough angst and insecurities to add a little dramatic flair to it. Otherwise this is straightforward and feels utterly real. It is also really swoony and sweet, oh and did I mention hot?

The character building, as always with Prescott, shines above it all. Definitely character driven.
I totally adore Jesse. Sweet, honest, honorable a nd yet so straight-forward it refreshing. At first however I wasn't a huge fan of his POV. It got better though. (honestly I'm not sure if it just grew on me or if there was really an improvement) It's interesting to see behind the hot dude mask and discover more about him. Though I feel there are loads of things I still don't know about him, he feel way more blank than his female counterpart. And I wish we got more.
Despite all that I'm totally fangirling.
There are some interesting moments written from Jesse's POV.  The truth is he isn't faring as well because of Mara POV. Mara is brilliantly written. I love her POV, it's super witty, it's quirky and unique. I feel like I know her, and I would totally be friends with her in RL.  I totally would. I think she could be my first book girl friend, why ever did I limit myself to book boy friends? I think we should extend it to book besties. And while we're at it I call dibs on Mara.
The support cast is interesting. There is a nice group of girls coming together.. I am wondering if we going to get stories for the clique? Also which male specimen will we admire next?
Then there is Landon. And I don't know where to cast him. Because let's face it he is an ass, but that's all we get. He seems just the resident asshat, not reason nor rhyme. I mean he is apparently gorgeous and... an ass. Even though he featured in both books little else is known. Wondering if he will just stay the "villain"or if we get some insight in future books.

The backdrop to the book is Aspen and it's surroundings. Which makes this series so interesting for me. Not because I know Aspen, nope, but I am brought up in the Swiss Alps. So many similarities to what Prescott describes. Add to that my love of winter sports, snow romance and it's the perfect setting.
But Prescott isn't doing the Aspen as a glamour destination thing. She is writing about a glamorous holiday destination from the POV from a local. She is keeping it real. Showing the amazing parts and the negative parts of living in a place like it. Absolutely love the way she does that.

A must read for fans of the author. Though it is a series it works as a standalone, so if you never read a Prescott book, it would be a good one to start with.

Review:

Super cute book!

The sequel of Bad Boy Bargain is just what I expected, well written, cute boys, lots of baseball, interesting girls and plenty of swoon.

I know basically nothing about baseball. I mean I know the basics, but I have never actually watched an entire game nor do I know anything about the intricacies when it comes to balling.. I know cricket quite well and I know all about loving a sport, being caught up in it, breathing and living the sport.
And that's what Highley did a brilliant job at describing. While I might not quite get all the sporty jargon when it comes to baseball, I felt what it meant. I could relate to the two MCs love for it, the feeling of the players in a game. Which is my favorite part about the book. I get why people love baseball, Tristan's worries and problems. Same for Alyssa.

Highley shines in descriptions of feelings and situations. Beautifully written.

The character building is really well done for the MC's. Same goes for the close friends.
However not all of the support cast feels rounded and finished. I am not that impressed with the meanie for example and even the parents felt at times a bit unfinished.

The plot is sweet. Though it's very insta. I didn't mind it that much, except for the sudden soulmate discussion- I just thought woah they are what? 16 or 17?! and met.. a few weeks ago? take a deep breath and take it slow peps...

There was a fair amount of angst, which I actually really loved. And Highley hinted a few issues, that were actually quite interesting. But I felt all of it was resolved really fast, which kinda seemed to take away from the seriousness of the issues.

The end is swoony and perfect and left me totally smiling. The perfect end to a enjoyable cute & fluffy.

A must read for lovers of the genre.
I can't wait for the next installment!!

Review:

I am just like so many times deliberating about how to rate this... I think it's around 2.5Stars? More like 2.75?
So not quite good but way better than ok. Hence I am rounding it up.
I wouldn't have wavered in the first half. But the second half sadly highlighted my problems with the book.

Let's first talk about the world building. It's my favorite part of the book. I like the mythology Blake built around the Frostblood Saga. We given little bits as the story unfolds, forming an interesting background to the storyline. The reader gets thrown into the deep end at the beginning of the book, but one gets to discover a world of elemental magic, beasts of different origins, characters driven by power and idealism. While I am not completely wowed by the world building, I did like it. It is your classic high fantasy set up for sure and has loads of potential.

I am a little divided when it comes to character building. I liked Ruby well enough. I get where she was coming from and in the first half of the novel I could relate to her. BUT then she felt just like the rest of the entire cast a little to formulaic. Too thought through and too scripted.

The story line is where my biggest issue lies. It was completely predictable. I mean completely. I knew where this is going from the beginning. I could have told you each twist and turn a mile ahead.
Despite that I rather enjoyed the first half. I found myself caught up in Ruby's struggles, in her growing friendships with the people around her. I even quite enjoyed the romance, however cliche it might be. The second part however, while there was way more action, the whole thing felt even more predictable. I knew exactly where Blake was going next. The big revelations had me yawning. Not only that I found myself rather annoyed with the weird unnecessary love-triangle. I just wondered why Blake had to go there? Couldn't she keep that cliche out?

Now I feel like I should mention that I have read a lot of fantasy books in my life. I've been reading epic fantasy since I was 9 years old after all. Which means, I have a lot to compare to. But also that I have a lot of expectations. I have a feeling that readers who haven't read half as many might enjoy this more than I did.

So while I like the first half and I enjoyed the action scenes, I found myself wondering if I am going to read the next novel. At the end of this one, I didn't feel the urge to read the next. Yet... for the first time since I started the series, I am not sure where Blake is going to take this next.. and it has me wondering.. SOOOOO I guess I'll be reading Fireblood after all. ;)

Review:

Breath of Fire had me gasping for air, it's non-stop action. Literally, from the first page to the last.
I thoroughly enjoyed that.

I was smitten with Bouchet's writing skills reading her first novel. Breath of Fire just reconfirmed my adoration for it over and over. This is well structured, well paced (extremely fast mind you), has amazing descriptions and wicked world building. Some of the details are rather gory and gruesome, but there are also beautifully described heartfelt moments. Bouchet knows how to keep her readers on their toes. It's balanced just right, so we can connect to the main players, get to know the villains but also that we get a minor breath between action, gore and revelations.

The world building in one world is brilliant. Bouchet draws from greek mythology but makes this new unique world from it. At times Cat's quest reminded me of the Odysseys and at other times it reminds me of classic high fantasy novels. A great mix and to that Cat's prophesied fate, the history of the kingdoms and you have an intriguing, inspired world. I also need to mention the creatures Bouchet conjures up. And there are plenty in this one again. I totally adore her descriptions, some of them are again based on Greek mythology, others are newly invented (at least I think so), but all have Bouchet's own little twist to them. Seriously one of my favorite parts of the series!

The character building is another part this novel shine. I did love Cat in the first book. I ended up having issues with the last part and Griffin's behaviour. But in this book? I ended up totally smitten with Griffin. I mean totally. Cat changes in some ways, significantly. Her growth is steady and yet immense. Griffing is a rock in the tumult. His vision, loyalty and kindness are staggering. Their relationship strengthens and all the things I loved about them before, has be reconfirmed. They still argue, banter and fight the odds. But somehow their trust deepens, they accept each other and their bond becomes even stronger. Their relationship feel tangible and real.
Cat shares more of her past, and with that one starts to understand more about her and her actions.
Team Beta is in full action. And yet we get to know them individually somewhat better. They all grew on me even more.
Frankly the character building is so well done, that I feel like I left a group my close friends behind, after finishing the novel. I am actually invested in several characters and I need them to have some sort of happy ending. To be clear: that's for basically the support cast, we talking about.

The plot as I said before is non-stop action. Never a dull moment. There are quests, riddles, personal problems and disputes, battles and talks with the gods. Plus quite a bit of smut and some budding romances as well. In fact my one and only problem was ALL the smut in the first half. Basically there was dramas, smut, fight nearly die, smut and repeat it over and over. In the second half however, they were on a quest that reminded me of the epics like the Odyssey and very little smut thankfully. now

With her second novel Bouchet firmly planted herself in my favorite fantasy authors list.
My only problem: The next book is only going to be published sometimes in Fall 2017.
And here I am feeling breathless from my reading marathon, desperate to get my hands on the next book.
You however really need to give this series a go if you love the genre!
